Session Description:
Meeting Professionals Against Human Trafficking (MPAHT) is a group of dedicated Canadian conference/event planners, corporate event planners, hotel sales professionals and audio visual professionals who are raising awareness about human trafficking.
Human Trafficking is defined as: “Every person who recruits, transports, transfers, receives, holds, conceals, or harbours a person, or who exercises control or influence over the movements of a person, for the purpose of exploiting them or facilitating their exploitation.”
During the webinar, Malak Sidky, Volunteer Coordinator, MPAHT, will share Canadian and US stats, explore some myths vs. facts and provide highlights of the progress MPAHT is making since its inception. Hyatt is very progressive and she will include the wording of their RFP clauses as an example of what hotels can do to raise awareness about this issue. CVBs and Convention Centers will also benefit from learning about this issue in order to help raise awareness industry-wide.
Learner Outcomes:
- How to recognize sex trafficking in a hotel
- Be aware of exemplary hotel practices that mitigate the risk of trafficking
- Learn how you can help to combat sex trafficking
